Gould Academy's Nate Livingood was the first out of the stadium and never looked back as he to a first place finish in the 2021 Sassi Memorial 5k Classical on Saturday morning, February 20th at Black Moiuntain. Livingood's skied the Paul's 4960m course in 13:18.8 to take the gold. In second place was Nate's teammate Eli Shifrin, who crossed the finish in 13:48.0. Third place went to another Gould skier, Utah Bean, who had a time of 14:08.4. Carson Zundel of Mt. Blue took fourth place at 14:43.1. Maranacook's Max Olmstead was fifth, finishing in 14:44.6, while Alex Hemingway of Mt. Abram had the sixth best time at 14:55.1.
In the afternoon the attention switched to the girls skiers and they didn't disappoint. Once again it was a Gould Academy skier crossing the finish line first, with Eliza Skillings first across the line, taking the gold with a time of 16:13.8. Second place went to Sierra Aponte Clarke of Deering with a time of 16:45.1. The final podium spot was won by Annabelle Brooks of Cheverus with a 16:49.6 time. Finishing in fourth was the 2020 Sassi Champion, Falmouth's Eva Clement. Eva's time was 16:51.5, which was just 1 second behind her 2020 time.
