The longest continually run race in Maine, the Chenard Memorial/MTA Opener, will be held December 17th at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center in Carrabassett. The freestyle race will be between 3.5-5km in length and is traditionally the first chance for skiers to get on snow. Start times are 11:00 for Boys and 1:00 for Girls. 12/14 Update: The Opener is open to all, including middle school, alumni, etc. as this race is good to get everyone on snow and the proceeds benefit a good cause, so the more the merrier. Non high school racers will be marked accordingly.
