Alisha Guimond of Fort Kent won the Class B Slalom at Black Mtn by almost 4 seconds posting the fastest times in both runs.  We caught up with Alisha and asked her about her thoughts at the starting gate and her goals.

1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet? I gave it my all in practice weather it meant I was going to fall. I pushed myself every race and practices  to do better and better.

2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet? I was very nervous before because we all needed to stay up but, I remembered what my coach always tells me and that is to have fun.

3) What is your favorite thing about ski racing? I love skiing for many reasons it is so fun and you feel free all the time.

4) Coming into the season, what were your goals and did you achieve them?  My goal was to try to make the Maine State team I knew it was going to be very difficult because there are many talented skiers and we only get to train two days a week sometimes only one. So, when it came time for shoot outs I just gave everything I had.

5) What was going through your mind at the starting gate knowing that the snow conditions were icy and tricky? The same thing before every race nerves, chills, and a lot of concentration. We had skied on ice all year so I knew what to expect. But I just made sure that I pressures my outside ski as best as I could.
