Training with the Freeport team, Lena Martin of Brunswick cruised through the Titcomb course and won the Class A Classical state title.  We caught up with Lena and asked her about her training and what she was thinking about during the race.

1. What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?

I trained with the Freeport team - we had the right combination of workouts and rest before states.

2.How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
 
I avoided thinking about the result of the races, and focused on enjoying the positive atmosphere and good conditions at Titcomb Mountain.
 
3.What is your favorite thing about ski racing?
My favorite thing about ski racing is the satisfaction it brings after finishing a race.
 
4.Coming into the season, what were your goals and did you achieve them?
My goal this season was to improve upon my past seasons, which I achieved.
 
5. What was going through your mind during the classical race?
I thought about the fast skiers who started behind me and was motivated by the fact that they might catch me.
