John Lane of Yarmouth won the class B Freestyle state meet at the Nordic Heritage Center.  We asked him about his preparation for the state meet, his mindset on meet day, and his reaction to his success.

1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?

I followed a training plan led by my coaches at practice every day. This included threshold and endurance workouts along with plenty of recovery days. In my free time I enjoyed surfing the big winter waves at Higgins beach and shredding the powder on my snowboard.

2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
I converted any pressure and emotions into positive energy. I tend to thrive in competitive situations.

3) What was your reaction when you found out that you were the Class B Freestyle state champion?
I was psyched.

4) Coming into the season, what were your goals and did you achieve them?
Coming into to the season I was originally going for top three, but I really just wanted to race to my full potential. I believe I did this.
