Our next state champion spotlight is Alex Hemingway of Mt. Abram. Alex won the 2022 MPA Class C Classical and the Pursuit at Black Mtn. We asked him about his
state meet preparations and about his success.
1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
Leading up to the state meet I was forced on training and getting the energy up to 100%
2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
Didn't really have any, just had the mindset of I'm just going to give it my all.
3) What was going through your mind at the start knowing that the snow conditions were challenging?
They were challenging but knowing we had good wax and fast skis for the conditions was reassuring.
4) What are some of your best memories from ski racing this past season?
Mvcs as well as states
5) If you are a senior, what are your plans for next year?
My plan is to go to kvcc for electrical lineman technician
6) What were your goals for this season and did you achieve them? What led to all of your success?
Really to just go and have a fun season of racing knowing it is my last year of racing in highschool.
7) Anything else that you would like to add?
Doing good in mvcs and states was a good way to end my last nordic season racing for MTA
