We next spotlight Alden Readon of Fort Kent.  He was the 2025 Class C state champion in classical, freestyle, and the pursuit.  He also wasAlden Reardon 1600 the Aroostook League champion.  We asked him about his successes and what he was thinking about at the start line.

1. What were your preparations leading up to the state meet? Leading up to the state race we were skiing and making sure not to get sick.  

2. How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
I made sure to have a good warm and use the nerves to help ski.
3. What was going through your mind at the start?
At the start of the classic race I was making sure to stay warm since it was pretty cold and making sure that my skis weren't icing up. At the skate race, I was making sure to stay warm and made sure to go at the right time.
4. What do you contribute your success to?
I think a great team and coaches along with great wax techs helps a lot along with training in the summer.
5. What are your goals/plans for next year?
Next year I plan to continue to train in the summer
6. What surprised you the most about this season?
This year I was surprised by how well the skiing was towards the end of the season after some rain earlier in the year.
7. What moment/event will you remember the most from the season?
This season I will remember the team the most since we had a really fun team this year.
8. What do you like most about Nordic Skiing?
I like nordic skiing because of the skiing and all the nice people in the sport.
