We now spotlight Kaden Theriault of Fort Kent. He was the 2024 Class B Giant Slalom state champion. His team also won the Class B Alpine team title. We asked Kaden about his success, what suprised him this season, and more.
1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
I Trained as much as I could.
2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
I've done a lot of racing and have skied in some bigger races than states, I knew there was still going to be some pressure, and I had to just have fun.
3) What was going through your mind at the starting gate?
To go as fast as I can without exceeding my limits.
4) What do you contribute your success to?
All the training LPT has offered me. My coaches and my family.
5) What are your goals/plans for next year?
Next year I am going to attend UMFK for Criminal Justice and will take part in the soccer team.
6) What surprised you the most about this season?
This year showed me how a team can have a lot of fun and still win championships.
7) What moment/event will you remember the most from the season?
I think that the thing I will remember the most is winning states, Going up to collect the trophy was truly amazing.
8) What do you like most about Alpine Skiing?
The thing that I like the most about skiing is having fun with my friends and training.
