imageWe next spotlight state champion Brooke Boone of Yarmouth.   She was both the 2024 Class B Slalom and Giant Slalom state champion.  We asked her about her success, some season surprises, and more.

1) What were your preparations leading up to the state meet?
Laps at Sugarloaf and Pleasant.
2) How did you deal with the pressure and emotions that come along with competing in a state meet?
My hard work in the gym and training on the hill allowed me to stay relaxed knowing I had prepared myself for races.
3) What was going through your mind at the starting gate?
I spend as little time at the start gate as possible, as my coaches and teammates can attest to I get there at the last second, jump in, and go.
4)  What do you contribute your success to?
My passion for skiing and my need for speed ever since I was little.
5)  What are your goals/plans for next year?
Ski for fun in Colorado while attending the University of Denver.
6) What surprised you the most about this season?
Although it was my senior year so there was some pressure it still felt like I was out there for fun.
7) What moment/event will you remember the most from the season?
When my team and I dressed up for WMCs.
8) What do you like most about Alpine Skiing?
It is an amazing feeling to have a pure connection with the mountain and to put all my energy into it. And the adrenaline rush when you're teetering on the edge but still zooming down. It is a different feeling from soccer or lacrosse.
9) Anything else that you would like to add?
I want to express my gratitude to my Dad for always urging me to improve. To my Mom, thank you for believing in me and being my biggest fan. A big shoutout to CVA for teaching me valuable racing skills, and to the Yarmouth Alpine Ski Team for always cheering me on and their unwavering support.
