The 2025 MPA Class A Alpine State Championships began today at Titcomb Mtnin Farmington with the slalom competition. In the boys slalom, Ian Christie of Falmouth is the 2025 Class A slalom state champion. His winning combined time was 1:14:08. In second place was Landon Marquis of Camden with a combined time of 1:14.53. In third place was Merrik Icozilli of Fryeburg with a combined time of 1:14.55. In the girls slalom, Sophie Simard of Leavitt is the 2025 Class A slalom state champion. Her winning combined time was 1:20.74. In second place was Maddie Ranger of Edward Little with a combined time of 1:22.64. In third place was Ella Morse of Falmouth with a combined time of 1:22.87. The Falmouth boys and the Camden Hills girls take the lead after day 1. The Class A Alpine state championships conclude on Tuesday with the giant slalom at Sugarloaf. The 2025 MPA Class B Alpine State Championships began today at Saddleback Mtn in Rangeley with the giant slalom competition. In the boys giant slalom, Thatcher Riley of Maranacook is the 2025 Class B giant slalom state champion. His winning combined time was 1:25.36. In second place was Dylan Cobb of Poland with a combined time of 1:25.66. In third place was Reed Michaud of Fort Kent with a combined time of 1:28.11. In the girls giant slalom, Logan MacLeod of Yarmouth is the 2025 Class B giant slalom state champion. Her winning combined time was 1:25.80. In second place was Lily Boulanger of Mountain Valley with a combined time of 1:27.33. In third place was Emery Dodge of York with a combined time of 1:29.51. Maranacook High School's Thatcher Riley and Yarmouth High School's Logan MacLeod will headline a Maine Alpine Team that will compete in the Eastern High School Alpine Championships at Cannon Mountain in Franconia, NH from March 6-9. Each gender team was selected based on their performances in the Giant Slalom and Slalom races at Black Mountain of Maine on Thursday. Racers are scored on their best finish of any of the two runs in each of the two disciplines. Riley had 1st place finishes in one heat of each discipline, giving him the minimun 2 points. Joining Thatcher on the team are Landon Marquis of Camden HS, who also score 2 points, Ian Christie of Falmouth HS, Cooper Dodge of York, Merrik Icozilli of Fryeburg Academy, Dylan Cobb of Poland HS, Quinn Maguire of Marshwook HS, Kaden Salsbury of Skowhegan HS, Tristan Riley of Maranacook Hs and Edison Sleeper of Caribou HS. MacLeod also scored two points to lead the women. The 2025 MPA Class C State Nordic Championships Day 2 was held today at Black Mtn under sunny skies and slightly less windy conditions. In the boys freestyle, Alden Reardon of Fort Kent is the 2025 Class C Freestyle state champion. His winning time was 13:30.7. In second place was Fletcher Marquis of Fort Kent with a time of 14:06.9 In third place was Ben Chartier of Fort Fairfield with a time of 14:55.2. In the girls freestyle, Clara White of Orono is the 2025 Class C Freestyle state champion. Her winning time was 14:24.6. In second place was Rowan Tanguay of Fort Kent with a time of 16:14.4. In third place was Soren Stark-Chessa of Maine Coast with a time of 16:52.9. The Fort Kent boys and girls are the 2025 Class C Nordic state champions.
