Ruth White - State Champion Spotlight
There are many people who have helped me with skiing in various ways. My family is always supportive of all aspects of skiing. My sister, Clara, was a great training partner this season. My teammates made practices fun. My coaches helped me with technique and waxing. The groomers of the local trails made it possible to train. Other Maine skiers pushed me at races and made racing fun because of their good sportsmanship. I greatly appreciate all of these people, and many others, who have helped me to improve my skiing ability.
5) What are your goals/plans for next year?
My goal for next year is to get faster by getting stronger and improving my technique in both skate and classic.
6) What surprised you the most about this season?
My team's performance at the state championship surprised me the most. I was really impressed with how hard my teammates worked at states, and how well all members of our team did.
7) What moment/event will you remember the most from the season?
I will remember the Eastern High School Championships for many reasons. The skiing was super fun, but I will also remember the fun I had hanging out with the other Maine skiers, the kindness of the skiers from all the states, and the ski knowledge that I gained from the coaches.
8) What do you like most about Nordic Skiing?
I love the Nordic skiing community. All the skiers, coaches, and families are super supportive and kind. This makes the environment at races positive and enjoyable.
9) Anything else that you would like to add?
Thank you to the entire Maine skiing community for your incredible kindness. I am so grateful to be part of this amazing community.
