Day 2 of the 2024 MPA Class B Alpine State Championships were held today at Sunny Black Mtn in Rumford with the slalom competition. In the girls slalom, Brooke Boone of Yarmouth is the 2024 Class B Slalom State Champion. Her winning combined time was 1:26.64. She also won the giant slalom on Wednesday. Phoebe Bell of Maranacook was the runner-up with a time of 1:29.89. Tia Spenlinhauer of York was third with a time of 1:31.26. In the boys slalom, Keegan Lathrop of Cape Elizabeth is the 2024 Class B Slalom State Champion. His winning combined time was 1:18.60. Thatcher Riley of Maranacook was the runner-up with a time of 1:20.65. Tyler Moore of Yarmouth was third with a time of 1:24.29. In the team competition, the Fort Kent girls and boys are the 2024 Class B Alpine State Champions.The 2024 Maine EHSC Alpine Qualifier (The Shootouts) are on Sunday, February 18th at Black Mtn in Rumford. If an alpine racer (Male or Female) comes in the top 15 in either discipline (Slalom or Giant Slalom) at their respective state meet (class “A”, or “B”) they may attend the qualifier for a chance to make the state team and represent the state of Maine at the Eastern High School Championships. Congratulations to all of the skiers who have qualified to be on the Maine U16 Nordic team and on the Maine EHSC Nordic Team.
